From
1986 to 2005, the Sooke Region Museum operated a major annual
juried Fine Arts Extravaganza in the Leisure Complex situated
adjacent to the museum. Our purpose was to draw attention
to the art and artists of the region, and in achieving this
objective the museum has been extremely successful. The
event became a landmark, drawing thousands from far and
near, both artists and art lovers.
We
celebrated the 20th show with a specially exciting exhibit,
and always looking for innovative ideas, decided to move
forward to establish a year long showcase for artists
to offer their work for sale, featuring a series of selected
artists each month.
Artists
resident within the entire Capital Regional District are
eligible to submit portfolios for adjudication.
There
are two components to Fine Arts Unlimited, the Upper Gallery
of the museum's Gift Shop, and the Pavilion on the grounds,
which will serve as an Art Market.
Jurors
for our current portfolio submissions to Fine Arts Unlimited
are Diane Carr, who served as a juror in our Fine Arts
2005 Show, Waltraud Henderson, who served as a juror in
our Fine Arts 2003 Show, and Pamela Madoff, a Victoria
City Councillor with wide experience in the field of arts
and culture.
Artists
are invited to access the Cover Letter and Submission
Form posted on this website, and to e-mail or call if
seeking additional information.
Art
lovers who would like to receive invitations to our monthly
Gallery Opening Nights are invited to notify us through
phoning (250) 642-6351,
